Definitely no angel.

Although mentioned before by quite a few reviewers, Tom Bower's technical grasp is virtually non-existent and which is a wicked shame. He obviously had no intention in letting any technically minded proofreader, loose on his manuscript. There are countless mistakes relating to people and their roles within the sport. These are unforgivable indeed. McLaren's Alistair Cauldwell was never a draftsman for Brabham, but was McLaren's chief mechanic/crew chief until his retirement from the sport.
Susan Watkins' earlier - and 'approved' bio - "Bernie", is the opposite to Bower's 'non-approved' rendition - but it was orchestrated like that for a good reason. Bernie encouraged Bower to 'air' much official and unofficial dirty stuff, only to slyly refer to the 'unofficial' status of Bower's book, should he be challenged.
A brilliant move if you wish to underline anything negative that had been rumored for decades, and to sanitize it through an unofficial biography.
I wonder how many readers simply have no grasp of Bernie's powerful reach within society as a whole. Bernie says of himself that he is a good friend - but a bad enemy.
I, for one, would not be willing to discover the measure of his abject disappointment.

So secret, I made it up !!!,,

This book is a shocker !! I suspect Mr Bower doesn't have the faintest idea what actually happens in F1. This book has so many factual errors it becomes quite amusing to keep score. Events happen before things were even made, people who weren't even at certain races influenced the outcome, drivers that we didn't realise were world champions (Carlos Reutemann), overall a complete waste of paper. Probably the worst aspect of this book, is that there is a fascinating story to be told, but his isn't it. Save your money, if you have something better to do that just throw it away, buy the "Bernie" book, it's more factual, not the whole story sadly, but at least what is says is generally correct.

Until he begins to sound like Shirley MacLaine 's illegitimate brother, this is just a wonderful book. The last few chapters are all about the probability of past life experience and the fascism of the scientific method. It is sad that maestro Roeg is unable to bask in the glory of human achievement that was birthed by rational creative thought. You almost feel that he would be ok if they had sacrificed virgins to appease the gods during hurricane sandy.Two thirds of this book is a great read.

Every Christian should read this book

I believe that every Christian should read this book. We all talk about an enemy exists, but HOW does he attack is not often talked about. This book is a great reference that everyone can understand.

One thing that I do have to say is that you have to be spiritually prepared for this book. Our book club read this book and the first thing that I told them was to be spiritually prepared. The reason I say this is because as you read this book, the enemy starts to attack, but you can get through it and come out victorious in knowing who the enemy is and how he attacks.

Peter Wonson was the lead singer of the rock band Tracks from 1968 to 1971. Retired after a thirty-eight year career in education, he lives in Roanoke, VA, with his wife, Lee, a Public Health Nurse, and six dogs and cats. He is a Life Member of the NAACP, and a baseball fan. -------------------- Rick Hunt studied art with Ken Westhaver and at Massachusetts College of Art. A lifelong visual artist, Rick is represented in private collections and museums. He holds a degree in psychology from Lesley University, resides in Littleton, NH, and works with his wife, Carolyn, as Laughing Couple Interactive Storytelling.

Wonderful book! If you enjoyed the New England area rock and roll bands of the 1960s, then this book is for you! I was especially delighted reading the chapter about my family's NEWELL'S CASINO! The author makes the 1960s come alive with many insightful thoughts and quotes from people who lived in that time period. There are many neat old photographs as well!

Colin Henderson is a spatial solutions architect with 14 years of experience working on solutions to complex spatial problems. He is currently the Geospatial Systems Capability Lead for Atkins, one of the world's leading design, engineering, and project management consultancies. Although experienced in a wide range of proprietary GIS software, his current focus is on specializing in the integration of open source software in complex enterprise environments. His most recent projects involve the integration of GeoServer with FME Server from Safe Software and the delivery of spatial web-mapping applications through Esri's ArcGIS for the Server platform and Latitude Geographics' Geocortex framework. Very good reference for improving the performance and capability of GeoServer

Mastering GeoServer, as suggested on its cover, aims to provide a basis to leverage the power of GeoServer.

The book introduces 12 chapters which open with installation and moves quickly through serving large raster / vector data and complex features, management of output, spatial analysis and finishes with performance monitoring.

While not essential, the target GIS audience should have a familiarity with GeoServer. This review draws on approximately 2 years of empirical knowledge of a working application of GeoServer. The preface cites the precursor “GeoServer Beginners Guide” of the same publisher. Again, while not essential, this reference provided useful bridging material and is recommended here also, however Mastering GeoServer is the first book I have read on this topic.

Mastering GeoServer has very easy to follow type set conventions which are well defined. Icons, tables and screen dumps are sufficiently to support demonstrations and procedures.

The strength of Mastering GeoServer is its content and flow, which is fast moving and tends to focus on prescriptive solutions without getting bogged down with theoretical depth and explanation. This reader was specifically looking for methods for speeding up the serving of very large and high resolution raster mosaic data sets as well as serving, to this point, prohibitively large raster data sets. At the time of this review, some of the solutions for serving these data sets as described in Chapter 2 had been successfully adopted. Similarly, Statewide (Queensland, Australia) vector layers previously too large in the resident environment had been successfully served using techniques suggested in Chapter 3.

The book is highly recommended for those with at the least a beginner knowledge base with GeoServer looking to add functionality and performance to their application.

If you are in hurry and a very concise suggestion is enough for you than here it is: buy this book and you won't regret!

I have enjoyed very much to read it. I have been using GeoServer extensively in the last years, so I was very curious to read it. I liked the writing style of the authors, the book is very clear and easy to read.
As suggested by the title the book is more useful for a user that already master the basic concepts of GIS and GeoServer's basic features.
The chapters will guide you trough many interesting topics.
Chapter 1, 2 and 3 guides you to configure a production GeoServer installation and to maximise the performance for raster and vector data.
Chapter 4 gives a very interesting tour of how to publish complex features.
Chapter 5, 6 and 7 focus on how to export maps, both as hard-copy with the printing plugin and tuning the several format GeoServer support as output.
Chapter 8 gives an overview of how a Spatial Data Infrastructure should be designed and what is the role of GeoServer inside it
The remaining chapters cover the use of GeoServer as a geo processor, dealing with security and how to control the health of your installation
To conclude this review: this is really a good book that provide a very good insight to the experienced users.

At first glance the structure of the book reminded me of the way that I have done over the years to gain the necessary knowledge to manage geoserver in enterprise environment, so the first thing I thought reading the book was: this is the manual that I have always wanted.

It guides you through all the steps, and I mean everyone, involved in getting geoserver seamlessly and efficiently integrated into a geospatial infrastructure.
I especially appreciated the chapters dealing with the topics that were most difficult for me to understand during my journey: I refer to chapters 4 "Using GeoServer to Serve Complex Features" and understood 9 "GeoServer as a Spatial Analysis Platform".

The first allows you to understand and master the technique to manage and publish through geoserver complex features.
The second one, wonderfully explained, allows to configure geoserver amplifying its potential "spatially interactive".

So the final judgment is the following: HOORAY!!!!! Finally an operative manual useful to install, configure and put "in action" a powerful tool to manage geographic data.

Thoughts that glow and words that burn

Even though I have read many books and short stories by great authors and is dazed, and full of admiration of their work, it happens once in a while, that a book or a story, that one has never heard mentioned goes right in to your heart and won't let go. That is what Mary Wilkins Freeman's stories did to me. I felt as if I had found a friend. There is such a pleasure to be found in her stories, the fluent and smooth style, easily understood by all, as well as a lesson in living your life at your own pace. She is so unaffected and natural in her storytelling, that these stories, which easily could have taken place, are sweet, tender, bitter and then full of resistence. Her character do not always behave. The stories are mostly about New England country women, for whom Freeman has obviouly a great sympathy for and she writes about them with respect and affection

Freeman- a master of the short story

Mary Ella Wilkins Freeman was a New England writer. I became hooked on her stories when I went back to school many years ago. It is difficult to find a book of just her works, but thankfully, Dover sees fit to publish this small tome with just Freeman's short stories. Entitled "The Revolt of Mother", it highlights one of Freeman's most hilarious short stories about a woman who is promised a larger home, only to become dismayed as her husband first builds his ultimtate barn. This book is inexpensive and a great way to become familiar with one of America's historical, overlooked woman authors.

This is the book that will find you again and make you feel the need to pass on to all the girls and women you know. Right on target
