Has Helped My Marriage Immensely

Got a copy of this book 3 weeks ago with the hopes of improving my marriage.

And... it has helped a LOT!

I communicate more and better understand my wife and what she wants and needs.
Funny how that then helps me get more of what I want and need!

Just one of her tips about a specific text message to send to my wife and what to say was worth its weight in gold.

I also got their strong marriage system which is great because its like spending time directly with Dr. Dana (it's online video on their website).

If you want to improve your marriage (it sure beats the alternative) then I recommend picking up a copy - amazing how much it can help!

I would highly recommend this book for it's invaluable lessons. I loved the online course immensely so I bought the book. It should be in everyone's library. It is very informative, positive and it works!!! Saved my marriage!! I no longer blame my husband for everything ! It has restored our pre marriage love!!

I had a great time reading the book as it tackles the most fundamental principle of being productivity. It’s ironic that most people right now tend to forget these basic guidelines which have great implications on the overall productivity. The book actually gives importance in being smart with your decisions. Being productive starts my setting up goals (realistic/attainable as possible) and making the right decisions to achieve those goals. This book is worth every ounce of you reading time. Everyone assumes that being more productive is simply about getting more done in less time. If you are a productive person, you definitely accomplish more in months than many people do in years, but productivity is more of a way of being. You could be doing less and at the same time, be more productive. Most of what you will read will improve your results, but another contributing factor is that some of the suggestions just don’t seem to resonate with people or cannot be easily applied. It is not only about applying the best practices, but also applying yourself more and in different ways. I highly recommend this book for some ideas on how to get better focused when you have 1,000 items on your plate.

Good Basic Baseline Explanations of a Worthwhile Pattern.

Although there is nothing new here in the way of technique or application, it is very nicely written and well thought out. I believe that it can significantly help a beginning trader who is looking to "baseline" their Trading Strategy. In that regard, I believe it would be worthwhile spending time working with because of its inherent clarity and definition. In any case, I bought the book to discover for myself if there was anything there for me personally as a 20 year market veteran, and a perennial student of the market. And I found my answer. Further, after communicating with the author, I found him to be candid, honest, and forthright in what he was attempting to convey in the book. I've got to respect that, and I have revised my previous rating accordingly. And now I will be selling the book back to another like minded truth seeker. Thanks!

Great little book overall. It's a relatively short book to ready but make no mistake, there is some meat in it.

Got the paper copy btw.

The author is to the point and does not spend endless pages talking about how much of a trading stud he is or dropping some Wall Street anecdotes.

Learning to trade pullbacks properly is a must for anyone aspiring to get the upper hand on Wall Street. I am confident this book will help you firm up your game. It's not the last word on pullbacks trading but all the basics are very well covered and in my opinion the trading set-ups discussed are sound.

Great job. I will more than likely give a shot at another of the authors book.

Finally a trading book that is an excellent first step in the right direction.

If you're tired of searching for a system to use in your trading then grab a hold of Secrets of Trading the First Pullback as a first step to solving your problem. Pullbacks occur in the market on a daily basis and Alwin does an exceptional job of taking you step by step through the complete process.

While the book is a fantastic first step, no trading book will or has EVER taught you a complete method. Try one on Flying....Golf.....Heart Surgery. You need more than just reading. Even the best in sports have coaches and mentors.

Let Alwin Ng take care of you. Sure he directs you to the course material on his site. The course is wildly inexpensive for what you get and he does a first class job of meticulously filling in the blanks that couldn't possibly be covered in the book.

Having been a pullback trader for some time now it certainly gave me some immediate and actionable changes I could make to improve my win ratio. Believe me, you'll read a lot of advice from many in other books but what you get in Secrets of Trading the First Pullback is great first step, even if you never take the course, that will take care of you for the rest of your trading life.

Good practical book, both introduction and reference

Wilson and Keating's "Business Forecasting" is an accessible introduction to practical forecasting. There is little explicit treatment of the statistical properties of the methods used, but the practical examples (which are numerous) show the effects of those properties. The methods should get a manager or engineer through most situations that require a justifiable forecast. I'm a bug on references, and there were an adequate number of them, but it would have been better if the reason each work was cited was specified.
This book is also, in practice, the user manual for the descriptive statistics / forecasting package 'SORITEC,' which is bound with the book. As such, it is absolutely required for beginning users of the package. The features of SORITEC which are covered are covered well, but that sharpens my wish that there would be at least a short description and a few references for the features not used in the main presentation.
In summary, a fine book for the 'dirty hands' crowd of forecasters; not bad for the 'ivory tower' crowd either, but not quite enough for the latter

Of course, the lectures are available as a free download elsewhere, but the format was very clumsy on my tablet - this is much better.

Excellent book about a fascinating weave structure

This is a wonderful book about a weave structure that you could spend a lifetime exploring. It gives a clear presentation of the basics of crackle and its many variations. The book is very well organized and is written with the intent to encourage experimentation. It is filled with color photographs of both woven samples and beautiful finished projects that will both instruct and inspire you.

It is not however a "project" book. None of the finished projects shown are accompanied by detailed weaving instructions. Each project is accompanied by two photos, one showing the entire piece, and another showing close-up details. There is also a short description of how each project was woven. This information, along with the descriptions of the weave variations in the text, is enough for you to create the project drafts if you want to. Creating those drafts is a very good exercise if you care to do it, but hopefully you'll also want to experiment and create your own unique items.

Most of the book describes crackle on 4 shafts. The possibilities on 4 shafts appear endless. Many of the 4 shaft variations require weaving with 3 shuttles at a time and some require frequent weft color changes. There is no discussion on shuttle handling, which may have been helpful. I suspect though that there really isn't a good general method for handling the shuttles that would apply to most of the variations.

There is also a very good chapter on how to weave crackle on more than 4 shafts. The chapter concentrates on using 8 shafts, but it's clear that the threading and treadling instructions could be extended to any even number of shafts. The 8 shaft weaves are complex enough that 3 shuttles aren't always necessary. There are several beautiful projects that use only a single shuttle.

Instructions for weaving several different samplers are included in the text. I think it would have helped if there was a separate summary of how to set up the samplers and what variations they might contain. But this summary may have been omitted to encourage experimentation.

One word of caution. Before you tackle this book, you need to have a good understanding of how to use profile drafts with block weaves. Familiarity with overshot and summer & winter would also be helpful.

Neat!!!

I am so excited by the challenge that this book offers! I feel like this is a great book to grow into. I really want to sit down and use it like a personal tutor in a solo crackle weaving home-study course! It would definitely be wise to sit down in a cool dark place where there is no extra noise or distractions so you can read it chapter by chapter and ponder everything. I haven't quite been righteous enough to do that yet, but I feel like the challenge of this book is right up my alley! I have enjoyed reading the first 2 chapters and also thumbing through all the color photos throughout the book. I will have to post again when I finally finish it.

Like all texts, there are pros and cons to the book "Weave Classic Crackle & More" by Susan Wilson. My overall impression is very high and I am very impressed with the knowledge gathering that Ms. Wilson has done. She is obviously very qualified to write the book because she has been weaving crackle since 1969 AND she has achieved quite the honor by receiving the Master level Certificate in Handweaving back in 1990. I mention this because Susan's book and the other crackle book I used in my personal crackle adventures[...] this last month (called "A Crackle Weave Companion" by Lucy M. Brusic)* have conflicting information in them for what certain crackle weaves are called. As a crackle-newbie, it was confusing until I threw the official names out the window and just concentrated on the weave structures. However, taking into consideration Susan's numerous publications along with what I feel is a respectable amount of professional weaving certification, I trust that her nomenclatures are the correct ones.

Crackle weave is already a very complex structure and is not for the faint of heart! It has some characteristics that are like no other weave, yet you can weave it "in the manner of" other weaves! A weaver who is new to crackle would definitely benefit from a source such as this. However, the book "Weave Classic Crackle and More" is not for the weaver looking for patterns to weave. It does not tell you exactly how to set up your loom or how much material to use. The book does, however, cover from the very basics of crackle and builds to the very complex weaving structures, all the way from 4-shaft to 8-shafts.

Chapter 1 starts with some history and chapter 2 covers the characteristics of crackle, for example it explains how crackle is made up of block weaves and describes each block, including the incidental thread for each one. The crackle pattern that was written out in a structural draft on page 19 was particularly useful since I was just beginning to learn about it. This draft gave me a chance to really study what the threads were doing. The crackle draft is very unique, and can be pretty confusing at times without the right references. Chapter 2 also has some profile draft explanations and design ideas. Page 25 was my inspiration for my latest colorful crackle project. I found her description intriguing enough to try it with six colors and loved it! [...]

Chapter 3 covers many different treadling variations that you can use in crackle, like you can weave crackle as other weave structures: overshot, summer and winter, Bronson lace, honeycomb, and other structures that I've never even heard of before, but they are very pretty. (To be honest, I have personally made it to the summer and winter point so far, but I hope to continue with more studying soon!)

Chapter 4 has some good descriptions on how to design crackle weave. But first it starts with polychrome, and also goes into weaving crackle in Italian manner, and oddly classic crackle actually fits into this chapter, although the other weave structures in chapter 3 were fun to do, as un-classic as they are! This chapter also includes information on boundweave and other weft-faced samples. Later there is a section to help you through designing traditional polychrome crackle, and the reason why it's more difficult to work with is because of all the independent color combinations going on here. Even though it is more difficult to work with than classic crackle, it offers more versatility and exquisite design options! Susan does a really good job explaining the difficulties of this weave. In this chapter, she also goes into a thorough explanation of hue and value of colors in crackle weave and the design process as a whole, which is extremely useful considering the non-independence of each block in crackle. Susan includes wonderful pictures to graphically explain this little quirk that makes crackle so much fun!

The last few chapter in the book discuss crackle on 8-shafts, turning the crackle draft, and color-and-weave effects. It even has a section how to make 8 blocks on only 4-shafts! And I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the pictures throughout the book are. In fact, they are some of the best I have seen in a while, and they are so numerous! They didn't skimp in this department!

There is definitely a lot of info in this book and it can keep a weaver busy for a good long time. One of my complaints though is coming from the point of view of a brand-new crackle weaver: I wanted more structure in my studies because I didn't have a clue what to do and having something so open was rather scary. I was afraid I was doing the weave wrong, and I had to study really hard to make sure I wasn't. I feel that this book would benefit from a section for the new crackle weaver that said something to the effect of thread your loom like this, now try this, this, and this crackle weave structure and walk the new weaver through step-by-step. I mean, I didn't even know what sett to use because it's a twill based structure but is it sett at twill? (The answer is no, it has a tabby sett!) It would have been nice to have that a little bit clearer description and starting point. However, once I decided to not be afraid and just throw an experimental warp onto my loom, it was so much fun! I just used the threading from page 19 and went through the weave structures like traditional crackle, crackle woven as overshot and woven as summer and winter. Like I said before, I have only made it to page 39 in my personal studies, but I have enjoyed the experience! I hope to be able to continue my studies using this text very shortly!

*A side note: In comparing this book to the other one mentioned (called "A Crackle Weave Companion" by Lucy M. Brusic), I like it so much better because the other book seems like a collection of a lot of obscure references that are hard to get a hold of these days. Also, it is written like an essay and the pictures aren't quite as good. The way the examples are written out are hard to follow and understand. In my personal crackle experimentation, I didn't reference it nearly as much as Susan's book.

The definitive modern crackle book

I took a workshop from the author and was intrigued by the crackle weave structure. I have been a weaver since the 70's, by the way. I was very glad to find a few years later that Susan had written a whole book on the topic. Her explanations are very clear and easy to follow. And the photos of her samples are wonderful. It is a great addition to my weaving reference library. It will certainly replace my notes from her class in a complete way. I have older books on the topic of crackle weave, but as other up-to-date books of weaving instructions, the graphic abilities of publishers currently and the clarity of the writing makes the new book on an old topic of use.

Perfect Finish

I have been a big fan of this series from pretty much the get go. Each time I start one, I find myself giving a great big sigh of happiness as everything I love about these characters comes rushing back in the first few pages. This installment was no different. I absolutely love Tom and Cooper together and have never had much of an issue with their age difference. They share amazing chemistry and fabulous dialog. Tom is super sexy and sweet, and Cooper is such a character – funny, sexy and sweet all wrapped in one. Their relationship is still going strong and seems to be moving forward with little difficulty, though they are dealing with the added pressure of work and family issues.

Speaking of work issues, Tom has a few to deal with, just as Cooper picks up a contract requiring long hours and dedication. Having been in Cooper’s shoes, Tom is ever the understanding partner. Trouble comes by way of Cooper’s client, who puts the pressure on Cooper to be more than professional. There is a bit of tension surrounding this, and Tom and Coop deal with it the same way they have everything else, with Tom making unintentional mistakes, and Coop waiting him out for him to do things properly. This is one of the things I love about these guys, and they do it consistently throughout this book, as well as the rest of the series.

So, if you’ve read this far, you must love Tom and Coop, as I do. I thoroughly enjoyed this installment and savored every chapter, knowing it was nearing the end of their story. This series has been such an enjoyable and entertaining read, and I’m just not ready to say goodbye. I sure hope we get to see some snippets from them in the future. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a sexy, sweet, funny, feel-good story.

Great ending for the series!

If you've read the first two books this is the perfect ending and you HAVE to get it! The banter between Tom & Cooper is better than in the first two. No surprise this authors characters are funny and quick witted because she is too. Honestly, I can't remember when I've smiled so much!

The first two books I've talked about how Tom is my type but I was in love with Cooper. Well, I still adore him (you'd have to be stupid not to) but Tom made me swoon. Everything about him is perfect IMO. He's even tempered, SO good to Cooper and good to Coopers family. He takes off work unexpectedly to help out, even though he's got trouble at work. And sexy, Jesus......

I don't want to give anything away but the end of this is probably the best ever for the characters, for what it is. I smiled, cried and swooned all at the same time. I could easily see another book but sadly, I have it on good authority that this is the end for Tom & Cooper.

If you haven't read this series, you're missing out!

A delightful ending to a great series

I hate when a good series ends but if has to end, then Sense of Place was the perfect ending to a most enjoyable read.

Tom and Cooper are happily living together now and working out the kinks of couplehood. Unlike the previous titles there's a bit more drama in this one with characters that make you want to hit something, or someone, HARD! Cooper is working on a huge project that is about to make his career...provided a over-inflated ego doesn't get popped first. Cooper isn't the only one with drama within work. Tom's is more personal but oh how I loved that outcome!

Why must all good things come to an end? I could have happily kept reading about Tom and Cooper, as the experience all live has to offer them and they progress through life. I guess I need to be satisfied with knowing Tom finally asks Cooper the RIGHT way *Sigh* and the Epilogue *SIGH!!!* Ms. Walker has quite the series here and it needs to be read by every M/M romance reader. Heck, traditional M/F readers should be reading it, too. Two better characters and their story I have yet to encounter.

The more recent developments in the different techniques are included incorporating references published up to mid 1996. Tandem Techniques will be an essential handbook for all chemists involved in general analysis product assay and environmental monitoring.
