Love and Loyalty Shine Through

Overall, this was a good read. Call me a sucker but I love to see the softer side of a thug, which Poochie and Jas definitely bring out of Chino and Black. There are some unbelievable parts to the story line, but overall, it is a pretty good read. The love and loyalty between Chino and his friends shines through. I'm not sitting on pins and needles waiting for part 2 (I actually think this could have been a stand alone), but I may check it out just to see how the story ends.

This was a good book. Was thinking it wouldn't be so good but decided to try it anyway glad I did. Love Urban Fiction but some go to deep like with the cheating and molestation and such this book touched on it but the drama didn't over power the characters. Loved how the whole group was involved in the story and were positive! Great job!! Waiting for part 2!

The guide was designed to provide therapists in many disciplines―including psychology, psychiatry, social work, pastoral counseling, nursing, and rehabilitation services, for example―with the tools they need to train their clients in relaxation. The guide was also designed to be used in research on stress and stress management, psychotherapy outcome, and related topics. This purpose is particularly important because there are few manuals available which describe in detail the actual procedures used in relaxation training.

About the Author

DOUGLAS A. BERNSTEIN is Professor Emeritus, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Courtesy Professor of Psychology at the University of South Florida. He has written, with Thomas D. Borkovec, Progressive Relaxation Training and, with M.T. Nietzel and R. Milich, Introduction to Clinical Psychology. He is also lead author on the fifth edition of an introductory textbook, Psychology. He is a fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society.

THOMAS D. BORKOVEC is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Pennsylvania State University. His empirical work has involved both basic and applied research, and his therapy outcome investigations on the cognitive behavioral treatment of generalized anxiety disorder have been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health since 1984. He has published more than 120 journal articles and book chapters.

HOLLY HAZLETT-STEVENS is a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her work focuses on anxiety and relaxation research.

"do you like solving mysteries i do so when my sister thea, heard that there was a secret hidden in mouse island's most famouse painting, the mona mousa, i knew we had to crack the code we began to investigate, and soon we were following a trail of clues that led us below the streets of new mouse city. there we made the most fabumouse discovery."

The Mona Mousa Code #15 Geronimo Stilton

I like books that are adventurous yet mysterious. This was the perfect book for me, and it has one of my favorite paintings in the whole wide world. I've read three Geronimo Stilton books, but this one has to be my favorite! I love how they translated Mona Lisa and Leonardo DaVinci into mouse language. My favorite part was at the end, but I don't want to give it away. When Geronimo said, "I'm too fond of my fur," that made me giggle!

About the Author
Gretta Curran Browne was born in Dublin city where she spent some of her childhood years in the notorious Goldenbridge orphanage. Later she was transferred to a second orphanage in Preston in England, which was less harsh, and where, due to one special nun, she became acquainted with the magic of storytelling. In her teenage years she moved to London to study Drama, working as a telephonist at night to pay her rent and attending Drama school in the day: after which she spent some years working full time in theatre and occasionally in television. Her first attempts at professional writing began after her two children were born, and she became a full-time mother, writing at night when the world and her children were asleep. She began with two short stories, both of which won prizes. She then began her first novel, `Tread Softly On My Dream’s, based on the true story of the young Irish hero, Robert Emmet. Published by Headline and critically acclaimed by the Press, Tread Softly On My Dreams was acquired by the University of Notre Dame in the US, and The Princess Grace Irish Library in the palace of Monaco. This was followed by her second Irish novel, Fire On The Hill and later followed by her first contemporary novel, Ghosts In Sunlight. Gretta’s writing career was interrupted in full flow when her son broke his back in an accident and needed her care for some years. Now fully recovered, her son is a successful young actor and Gretta has returned to her passion for writing. She has just completed her new Historical novel, By Eastern Windows, based again on a true story, set primarily in Scotland and India, and has already started work on the sequel The Far Horizon, set primarily in early Australia. Gretta is married to a lawyer and lives in London.

Why so few reviews?

I honestly don't understand why this book doesn't have a thousand positive reviews. I love historical fiction. However I realize it's not a popular genre, so I assume that explains the lack of reviews. There are a lot of characters to keep up with. It's not a fluff read, but certainly not a difficult read. I absolutely loved it. If you are at all interested in the history if Ireland I strongly recommend this book. There is a lot of information about the political & judicial system of the time, but it is not a dry book. You will also find a love story & fully developed characters that will make you not want to put the book down. I wish it had ended differently, but since the book is based on fact sadly that couldn't be....sigh

Erin go bragh, Ireland forever! That's one of the overwhelming feelings I have experienced as I read and reread this Gretta Curran Browne novel. I also feel that I'm tapping into actual history. As this is written as a fiction, it is actually based on real characters and real events. This is what I like to call "creative nonfiction" and it is enjoyable to read Browne's interpretation and her imaginatively insightful development of characters.

I was first intrigued by the title, and then the words from which it originated, a Yeats quote, ""I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softly..."
The title and the quote are haunting as they pierce the soul.

When I began reading this novel, a family and a group of identifiable people emerged as if they were real, quite methodically developed, and I began to care for them and their relationships. That feeling continued throughout this well crafted novel. Highly recommended.

Good for younger students, please note it's 3rd violin only

This title works well for younger students to play with the more accomplished students. "Twinkle," for example, uses only A, D, and first. However, please note that the book only contains the 3rd violin part (tiny letters in upper left corner). For the 2nd violin part, which does not come up on Amazon's search engine, you must click the "Also available in...paperback" button, and you will be directed to that page (which I realized only after purchasing it from another store that tagged on $5.95 in shipping!).

Excellent Simple Trio parts for Suzuki Standards

I was looking for some simple duet and trio parts so that I could introduce my children to ensemble paying, and also give myself a little more interesting part to play than the same old Suzuki songs over and over. These are cleverly arranged enough to be melodic and interesting, but simple enough for even a beginning student to learn and play. Definitely an excellent choice!

Why can't we buy the Violin 2 part? This is 3rd violin. Hard to tell when the title is so long, and the "Violin 3" is at the end. I didn't read carefully enough. Can't find the violin 2 part on Amazon. Would love to have, because it's really great.

Please get inspired TJ!
By High Expectations
I read Just My Luck and did not think it was very good but wanted to give TJ another chance so I also read Hand-Me-Down Heartache and my opinion has not changed. TJ is not a very good writer in my opinion. Why write a novel that has no inspiration behind it? The characters are so flat that they all seem to be speaking from the same point of view. There is no depth or emotion coming off the pages at all. She describes the scenes waaaay too much. The reader can't even set up a visual that is based on the character's emotions and feelings. After every piece of dialogue TJ will tell is what, why, when, where. Where is the imagination...the creativity? While the main character tells her story in the beauty shop, the reader does not get the chance to feel the story because TJ will stop and tell us the phone rang in the shop and somebody had to answer it or another beautician was coming in the room. Why? It rarely had anything to do with the story at all. I found it to be very annoying and totally break up any interest I had in the main character's flashback. I only finished the book because I always finish books. It was very hard to finish due to TJ's very poor storytelling. Also, for a story that goes back in time TJ had a hard time keeping her slang terms straight. She would make references to slang terms the characters used in the 70s and 80s when the terms didn't really show up until the 90s. I feel like after reading this book I am certainly ready to self-publish my own. Reading books like this one boosts your personal opinion of your own writing skills!! Based on this bad read, I am ready to get my stuff out there. If TJ can do it I know that I am ready!!!

Blessings not luck

Author Tajuana "TJ" Butler has done it again with her fourth novel, Just My Luck. Ms. Butler introduces the reader to Lanita Lightfoot and the family and friends that share various experiences with her. Lanita is 38-years old and is getting ready for her long awaited college graduation by going to a spa & hair salon. While at the salon, Lanita engages in a conversation about her life and the many experiences she has had over time. Lanita talks about her birth to an alcoholic mother (Aretha) and a lucky father (Paul). Born in a store during the 1965 Watts riot, Lanita's arrival saved the store from being vandalized. Lanita and her mother were rewarded with a rent-free stay at an apartment owned by the storeowner. She considers herself lucky because of the experiences she had in the past. Butler allows the reader a stroll down memory lane, as via Lanita, readers are exposed to several encounters with authors and celebrities (including the Jackson 5). Lanita learns about the many blessings she has received from the ups and downs she has experienced. She also learns to trust in God.

This novel is very entertaining and also gives a history lesson as the story unfolds. It is different than Ms. Butler's previous novels because of the historical facts given during various time periods in Lanita's life. Ms. Butler has given readers something engaging and at times educational to read. I recommend this book and look forward to future novels written by Tajuana "TJ" Butler.

Walk Down Memory Lane

I read Just My Luck during a weekend at the beach. It was a perfect choice for relaxing by the ocean with few worries on my mind. One reason I enjoyed JML so much is because the main character is just a couple of years older than me and I vividly remembered so many of the events and people Lanita encountered during her journey into womanhood. It was exciting for me to recall those wonderful times during my own formative years. I suspect this novel will have a similar effect on any reader born during the mid sixties to early seventies.

If I'm being honest, the only 2 drawbacks to Ms. Butler's latest, is:

(1) The dialogue is a kind of stiff. I've never met people from Watts who speak so perfectly, even Lanita's alcoholic mother and poor friends. I would have liked to have at least a few characters split a verb or two. Too many of the characters spoke with the same "voice". It kept any of them from being totally developed and realistic.

(2) The chance encounters fell upon Lanita a little too easily.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Just My Luck is a lite, yet empowering story that will be a welcome treat for readers 30 and up. I will be looking up some of Ms. Butler's other books. I think I'll start with the night before 30.
